I am starting a series of articles on how to create AI art using Midjourney and sell it on platforms like Displate. And this will be the first article. I will try to tell and show everything in detail step by step. I don’t know how it will be with time, but I will try to publish one article a week.
And today’s first lesson will be devoted to what aspect ratio for an image to choose for generating images using Midjourney.
Why Midjuorney?
I like the photographic quality of the latest 7 model, as well as the ability to create your own profiles and moodboards. This allows you to create unified stylistic collections of images.
To prepare images for Displate using Midjourney , follow these steps:
- Know Displate’s Recommended Size
Displate suggests uploading images in 2900×4060 pixels (width × height). This is a vertical format. - Calculate the Aspect Ratio
Divide both dimensions by their greatest common divisor:
2900 ÷ 290 = 10
4060 ÷ 290 = 14
Final ratio: 10:14 → Simplified to 5:7
- Use the Correct Midjourney Parameter
In Midjourney, use the –ar flag to set the aspect ratio.
For vertical orientation (height > width), use in Midjourney prompt: –ar 5:7
- Full Prompt Example
/imagine prompt: german shepherd standing in nature, cinematic lighting –ar 5:7 –v 7
This ensures your image fits Displate’s recommended size without cropping or distortion.
