How to create a Lightroom preset using AI

Have you ever thought about the possibility of creating a Lightroom preset using AI technology? I decided to give it a try. And here’s what I did.

How to create a Lightroom preset using AI

I used Chat GPT to create the LR preset. I specified what kind of preset I wanted:

**Input:**

Can you write me the settings for a Lightroom preset that will give them a magazine look?

Output:

Certainly! Here are the basic settings for a Lightroom preset to give your photos a magazine look:

### Basic Adjustments:

* **Exposure:** +0.20 (slight increase in brightness)
* **Contrast:** +30 (enhanced contrast)
* **Highlights:** -20 (reducing highlights)
* **Shadows:** +20 (brightening shadows)
* **Whites:** +10 (boosting whites)
* **Blacks:** -10 (deepening blacks)

### Tone Curve:

* **Tone Curve:** S-shaped curve for increased contrast. Raise the shadows and lower the highlights to create a gentle S-curve.

### Color Adjustments:

* **Temperature:** +5 (slight warmth)
* **Tint:** +5 (adding a hint of green)
* **Saturation:** +10 (slightly boosting saturation)

### HSL (Hue, Saturation, Luminance):

* **Red Hue:** -10

* **Orange Hue:** -10

* **Yellow Hue:** +10

* **Green Hue:** -10

* **Aqua Hue:** +10

* **Blue Hue:** -10

* **Purple Hue:** +10

* **Magenta Hue:** -10

* **Saturation for All Colors:** +10 (all colors)

* **Luminance for All Colors:** +10 (all colors)

### Sharpening:

* **Sharpening:** +30
* **Radius:** 1.0
* **Detail:** 25
* **Masking:** 50 (hold Alt/Option while adjusting)

### Noise Reduction:

* **Noise Reduction:** 20
* **Detail:** 50
* **Contrast:** 0

### Vignetting:

* **Vignetting:** -10 (slight darkening of the corners)

### Split Toning:

* **Highlights Hue:** 40 (yellow-orange tone)
* **Highlights Saturation:** 10
* **Shadows Hue:** 220 (blue-purple tone)
* **Shadows Saturation:** 10

There was no wow effect

These settings will create a bright and contrasting look, suitable for magazine-style photos. You can adjust the values to fit the specific photo and your preferences.

I then opened my photo in the program and made the recommended adjustments. I was not satisfied with the result because the photo was overexposed. And that was my mistake. After all, the AI didn’t see the original image and couldn’t analyze it to give recommendations on settings based on the source.

Then I asked: if I upload a specific photo to you, based on its analysis can you give settings for it so that it looks like a normal photo?

GPT: Sure! Upload a photo and I’ll help you with adjustments to give it a magazine look.

I’m uploading a photo. I get the following response.

### Lens Correction:

* Enable lens correction and remove chromatic aberrations.

These settings will make your photo look brighter, more contrasting, and professional, similar to magazine-style photos. You can slightly adjust the values to fit your preferences and the specific photo.

Now let’s compare: without initially seeing the photo, the AI suggested increasing the exposure by +0.2. If you remember, after applying the first settings, my photo became overexposed. And what we got after uploading the photo for analysis. GPT recommended to increase the exposure by 0.3 🙂

Shit! – I thought when I saw the new settings. But you know what?

There was something about it! The result was not bad enough.

Next, I created a copy of the original photo and edited the photo as I see it.
